MOUNT MARY HOSPITAL, CAMEROON VTR MOBILE TRAINING PILOT PROJECT

The Mount Mary Hospital, Cameroon VTR Mobile Training pilot project was InStrat Global Health Solutions’ first international/regional use of the platform to train health workers in a different country. The Health Apostolate in Buea Town Parish is characterized by Mount Mary Hospital which was created on the 18th of May 1967. Mount Mary Hospital volunteered to participate in the VTR Mobile Maternal and Child Health training for doctors, nurses, and midwives. The pilot had a dual aim of 1) demonstrating the viability of the platform for international training and 2) build MMH clinicians’ capacity and confidence to provide better and improved quality care to mothers and children of Buea, Cameroon. The Nurses/Midwives module consisted of 48 videos and the training commenced on 25th September 2017 and ended on January 6th, 2018. As this was a demonstration/pilot project users were not required to take pre/posttests. Approximately 25 participants were planned for the program however, the pilot was limited to eight participants who completed the training program. The training application consisted of different training modules designed to train to different cadres of health workers. The Doctors Module contained 53 training videos and the Nurses/Midwives module contained 48 training videos.
